about samantha

RP QualifyingCNPMACP

i'm samantha, a registered psychotherapist (qualifying) based in ottawa, ontario, with a background in holistic nutrition and fitness. i work with individuals, couples and families navigating anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, self-worth, and relationship challenges. i also support youth, teens, emerging adults and adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck in patterns, or unsure how to manage their thoughts and emotions.

my approach is warm, collaborative and direct. i draw from CBT, DBT-informed, ACT and attachment-based approaches to help clients understand what is driving their patterns and how to shift them in real time.

i also integrate my background in holistic nutrition and fitness to take a mind-body approach, looking at how the nervous system impacts sleep, movement and lifestyle, helping clients also feel better in their day-to-day.

as a mom, i understand how overwhelming it can feel to try to balance everything while still showing up for everyone else. i want to help you learn how to show up for yourself throughout the chaos.

common questions

about cost, insurance, and what to expect

What issues do you specialize in?
ADHD in youth, teens and adults, emotional regulation, burnout and overwhelm, and relationship and communication challenges. i also support anxiety and mood concerns, grief and loss, body image, and substance use and coping patterns, for individuals, couples, families, and teens.
How much does therapy cost in Ottawa?
in ottawa private practice, sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) typically run $115-160, and fully registered psychotherapists $150-200. sessions are usually 50 minutes for individuals and 60-90 minutes for couples or family work. psychotherapy fees are tax-deductible as a medical expense in canada.
Does OHIP cover psychotherapy in Ontario?
no, private psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP. most people use extended health benefits through an employer. check your plan's "paramedical services" section and confirm "Registered Psychotherapist" is a covered designation.
Do you offer virtual therapy across Ontario?
yes. i see clients in person in ottawa and virtually anywhere in ontario.
What is holistic therapy, and how is it different from regular therapy?
holistic therapy treats the mind, body, and nervous system as one connected system. alongside evidence-based talk therapy, we look at how sleep, nutrition, movement, and lifestyle are affecting how you think and feel. read more about the approach.
Do you work with adults and women with ADHD in Ottawa?
yes, this is one of my core specializations, including late-diagnosed ADHD in women. read more about ADHD therapy.
What should I expect in a first therapy session?
mostly information-gathering and orientation: a conversation about what brings you in, some history-taking, and a discussion of how we'll work together. you may not feel "better" after one session, give it 3-4 sessions before judging fit.
Do you offer couples therapy or family therapy?
yes, i work with couples and families as well as individuals and teens.
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
if you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or not like yourself lately, that's reason enough to explore it. the free 15-minute consult is a no-pressure way to find out, and if i'm not the right fit, i'm happy to point you toward someone who might be.
